オリジナルはBob・Dylanなのですが、デュランだと毒が強すぎて、皮肉っぽいストーンズのカバーのほうがしっくりしますね。

裏切り者！という罵声が飛び交うライブの中、ボブ・ディランは

I don't believe you. You're a liar！

お前らなんか信じないぞ嘘つきめ！と叫んでバックバンドに　Play fucking loud！と叫んでこの曲をやり、観客をぶちのめして黙らせました。

ヴェトナム戦争で大儲けして調子こいている連中に、今に落ちぶれるぞ糞野郎！と中指を立てるメッセージが、言葉の裏にあったといいます。

またこのころデュランはフォークからロックへスタイルを変えたり、不躾な行動もあったりと、ライブでファンの大ブーイングに合いましたが、前述の通りこの曲でファンを黙らせました。

 引用した部分の歌詞が象徴的なような印象をうけます。

でもイメージは伝わるのですがうまく訳せない。

一方ストーンズは歌詞のままに表現しているような印象を受けますね。
